- Clean the filter to remove dirt and sand particles.
- Open the water connection to flush the system.
- Insert the filter, close the sprinkler head, and install it back in its place.
How to Replace Sprinkler Heads
- Dig around the Sprinkler Head Carefully to avoid cutting the pipes or sprinkler
- Unscrew the Sprinkler Head
- Unscrew the sprinkler head by hand until it releases.
- Remove the Sprinkler Head
- Gently lift the sprinkler head out of the hole.
- Insert New Sprinkler Head
- Place the new sprinkler head into the hole and onto the male thread at the base.
- Tighten the Sprinkler Head
- Hand-tighten the sprinkler header until it is firmly in place. Do not over-tighten.
Repairing Sprinkler Risers
- Sprinkler risers have ½ to 24-inch sizes. Cut-off risers are a good option when you’re not sure of the riser’s exact length.
- Remove the sprinkler head body and ensure you can grasp the riser inside the trench or hole.
- Turn the riser counterclockwise to open it and separate it from the pipe connection.
- Measure the new sprinkler riser against the old riser and cut it to size with a PVC pipe-cutting tool
- Insert the end of the riser inside the clamp connection at the supply pipe and tighten it by hand.
How to Repair Leaking Mainline Supply Pipes
- It is common to notice pools of water or leaking drops at certain parts of the field.
- Make a trench around the suspected broken or leaking pipe.
- Turn off the water flow in the sprinkler system.
- Mark the PVC Pipe on the inside edge of the slip coupling and the end of the telescope base.
- Cut the sprinkler line on the marks with the PVC cutter.
- Clean the pipe of all dirt.
- Collapse the repair coupling to its shortest length.
- Add PVC solvent to the ends of the cut pipe and to the inside ends of the coupling.
- Place the coupling between the cut pipe and extend the coupling.
How to Repair Faulty Solenoid Valves
- Turn off the water supply to the sprinkler systems and identify where the solenoid valve is.
- Identify the wires that connect it to the controller. The bundled wires will the connected with a plastic wire nut.
- Unscrew the plastic nut that holds the wires and untwist them.
- Remove the old solenoid by turning it counterclockwise.
